When can You NOT be Sick?

What do you do when you feel a little bit under the weather? I'm sure most of us would want to snuggle up in bed and get all the TLC that we want.

Now, what happens when you are all alone with two little kids at home, and you are suffering from migraine AND one of your little kids is not feeling well?

That happened to me last Tuesday. I guess the stress that I went through the last weekend was so overwhelming that I had this massive throbbing headache on Monday night. It went on till the next day. When I started yawning (even though I wasn't sleepy), I knew that it's no longer the usual headache, but it had turned into migraine. I felt as though there was a sledgehammer pounding on my right side of the head. I had no choice but to end my lecture 30 minutes earlier. Thank goodness, I managed to run to the toilet to puke. The problem with me is that when I have migraine, I'll start puking so badly that if I'm lucky, it will only stop when the bile comes out! Otherwise, I'll need a jab from the doctor.

I went home and took my medicine and took a short nap. Still suffering from migraine, after puking twice again, I went to pick Wei Jin from his daycare at 5.30pm. His teacher told me that he is having a slight fever. Oh boy...double whammy!! Mommy and son - both not feeling well!

When I informed DH of the whole situation, he was worried that I wouldn't be able to manage myself and my boys. I've survived, DH :)

The amazing thing is that, despite the migraine and puking several times, I managed to pick my two boys from two different daycares (20 minutes drive apart), drive home, feed them dinner, bathe them, drive Wei Jin to the paeditrician by 7.45pm, wait for treatment for 45 minutes, drive home in the rain and tuck my two boys in bed by 9pm! Oh...I started puking again after my boys are asleep. That's when I really wished that DH would drive home on that very night. I needed his TLC :((

Until today, I still cannot figure out where on earth did I find the energy to do all those stuff, because usually when I suffer from migraine, I'd be as good as a half-dead chicken lying there in my bed!

Then I realised something, when you're alone, you have to be strong even in the worst condition. There is no time to BE SICK even though you ARE SICK especially when you have little kids who depend on you. It was an eye-opener for me because what I had experienced was actually a tiny fraction of what a single mother would have to go through in her life.

To all single mommies (and daddies, too)...I salute you!

I experienced severe migraine only ONCE and used to have it quite badly.

I think need to drink a lot of water.

Slow down. Don't get stressed.

Err...I think early rest too. Like the Chinese say, 'JO TAU'.
