You Jin's Second Week of School Experience

You Jin has finally settled in with his new school environment. He made more new friends this week. Let me see...Brian, Sean, Henry...and a few more whom he doesn't want to reveal their names. "I want to keep them as secret." That was what he told me. I'm not very sure if he is going to form a secret society in his class :P

Besides making new friends, he also learnt how to buy food from the school canteen. Despite having a variety home-packed food every day, he seemed to crave for something else from the canteen...doughnuts, curry puffs, nasi lemak etc. Oh...he even bought a long ruler for Wei Jin from the bookshop. I am not very sure why he did that, probably he was trying to be generous.

DH and I are trying to instill the saving habit in You Jin from now. So, every evening when he comes home from school, the first thing that he will do is to make a mini "financial report" to us: what did he buy and how much he spent...and the rest goes into his piggy bank.

The are two complaints from You Jin this week is that: 1) SCHOOL IS LONG & BORING. THERE'S NO FUN AT ALL...WORK, WORK AND WORK. 2) The class teacher is SO FIERCE and she carries a CANE every day. Oh boy...and this is just week 2.

I can't blame him for having that thinking because for these first two weeks, the students are doing the very basic things like alphabets and numbers. I told him to just bear with it and things will be better soon because the school had streamed the students according to their abilities just three days ago. I also told him that his teacher will not need to carry her cane anymore if everyone in the class is a good student and listens to her instruction (I don't want my little hero to habour any negative feelings towards his class teacher even though there are other parents who had complained about how 'garang' she is in class...sigh!)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will have lesser complaints after this. You have a LONG way to go, kiddo...
