hoanh nghênh các bạn đến thăm Hà Nội

Welcome to Hanoi

It was our family's first trip abroad. We were supposed to be there for a 5-day holiday, but UNFORTUNATELY we had to leave earlier because SOMEONE had to attend a conference in Damai Laut...sigh. Anyway, despite that fact...we still managed to have a fantastic time there in Hanoi. We managed to go sightseeing right up to Halong Bay. The only setback was that I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO SHOP:((

My little heroes: excited on board the plane:)

Places that we visited in Hanoi:

Water Puppet: a must-see in Hanoi which is worth your time & money. My little heroes stayed thrilled throughout the entire performance. In fact, Wei Jin begged us to bring him there again;)

At the Ha Long Jetty: Little Heroes didn't look excited at all because it was a 3-hour journey from Hanoi

You Jin & DH: on board the junk

Ha Long: photo of pure serenity

Inside one of the limecaves at Ha Long: little heroes wondered what were they supposed to look for in that area

After the long hike through the limecave, WE WERE HUNGRY (see...You Jin wanted to bite Wei Jin's head off)

Fresh fruit, anyone?

Hoan Kiem Lake: The Sun Rising Bridge

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum: DH - exhausted after queueing up for about 30 mins just to take a peep at Unc Ho's well-preserved body

One Pillar Pagoda

Ho Chi Minh Museum

Final stop: Temple of Literature - founded in 1070. It became Hanoi's first university in 1076.

The trip to Hanoi was indeed too short. We stayed in Hanoi Street Hotel (a very pleasant place) at the Old Quarter, yet we didn't even have any time at all to explore any of the 36 streets. Anyway, it was one of the best moments that we had (minus the fact that I had migraine when we were in Ha Long and puked all the way back to Hanoi). I have to agree with my Big Hero: it's not where you go or what you buy that matters; it's the precious moments that you spent together that is PRICELESS.

**Verdict: Hanoi...we shall be visiting you, again:)
